Field day on Bari-invented hybrid summer tomato

The Regional Agricultural Research Centre of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (Bari) in Jashore arranged a field day on Bari-invented hybrid summer tomato at Balrampur village of Bagharpara upazila on Saturday.
The programme, titled "Adaptive trial, production and community-based pilot production program of summer tomato in Bangladesh", was inaugurated by Debasish Sarker, director general of Bari, a press release said.
The cultivation of summer tomatoes started in Bagharpara upazila in 1996. At present, Bari hybrid tomatoes 4, 8 and 11 are being cultivated in this region on about 31 hectares of land, the director general said.
Apurba Kanti Chowdhury, director of planning and evaluation of Bari, presided over the programme.
