Three held over double murder in Jamalpur
Police yesterday arrested three men for their alleged involvement in the murders of a mother and her daughter in Jamalpur.
Shamim Hasan, Alom Hossain Imran, and Mamun Hossain were arrested after the victims' family filed a case with Jamalpur Sadar Police Station accusing six, said the law enforcers.
According to the case statement, Josna Begum, 50, and her daughter Kazuli Akter, 35, went missing on Saturday.
On Sunday, police recovered the slit-throat body of Kazuli from a bamboo bush in Kumaria area of Ranagacha union, said Shah Newaz, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station.
Around 36 hours later, police also recovered the body of Josna from Boraitair canal of Bashchora union, the OC added.
The victims' family said the mother and daughter went to meet arrestee Imran before they went missing. He promised Kazuli a job in exchange for bribe.
Police sent the bodies to Jamalpur Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
